Star City’s Salt-Blooded Edge
Cargo ships, fishing trawlers, black-hulled freighters, and the occasional alien carrier slide in under floodlights that never fully turn off. The air smells like salt, diesel, fish oil, and rust. Wind cuts straight off the water and carries voices in a dozen languages—some human, some not.
This district never belonged to one people, but after the invasion it became a refuge of necessity.
Displaced coastal survivors ended up here because they understood water, tides, boats, and survival at the margins. They mixed well with the indigenous dock-people, and the flow of the Docks was barely disrupted as the occupation settled.
Day or night, the Docks move cargo. Legal or illicit—as long as the flow is uninterrupted, trade continues.
District Type: Maritime–Industrial Urban Total Area: ~10 square miles Length (Uptown edge → Sea): ~4.5–5 miles Width (average): ~2 miles Total Population: ~270,000 Primary Functions: Port logistics, freight storage, coastal labor housing, illicit trade Governing Authority: Darkwater (de facto), Star City Police Department (traffic control), v’sori (strategic oversight)
Darkwater maintains enough personnel to suppress disruption at key nodes, but nowhere near enough to enforce order across the district as a whole.
